Diving Log for Android update released

Thursday, March 2nd, 2017

I’ve released an update for Diving Log on Android with the following new features:

  • Add multiple buddies to dives and trips
  • Less restrictions without in-app purchase
  • Polish Localization
  • Several bug fixes and improvements

You can now add multiple buddies to dives and trips. If you’ve added multiple buddies using the desktop version in the past, they will now show up on your Android device:

In the past an in-app purchase was required to edit any data in the Android app. Now you can add and edit up to 10 dives and add/edit all other data (e.g. dive sites) without any limitation. The app supports now Polish localization (many thanks to Maciej) and several bugs were fixed (comments field scrolling issue, dive time picker issue).

Diving Log for Android Update

Wednesday, June 1st, 2016

I’ve released an update for Diving Log on Android with the following new features:

  • Add new dive based on previous dive
  • DiveMate Import
  • Camera Capture
  • Photo full screen image viewer

When tapping on the add button (+) in the main screen, you can now either add an empty dive or use the last dive as a template. That will duplicate the last dive and you don’t have to fill in all data again.

If DiveMate is installed you can also import new dives from DiveMate directly into your Diving Log logbook on Android. That way you can download your dive computer with DiveMate and import the new dives (make sure you export to “DivingLog” format in DiveMate).

You can now also take photos with the camera and add these images to your logbook. And last but not least tapping on an image will show the full resolution image in the Android gallery photo viewer with pinch to zoom support (this works only for images that were added with the latest Diving Log app on Android).

Available on Google Play

In DiveMate, tap on “Tools > Backup & Sync > File export > DivingLog 5/6”. Then you can import the dives into Diving Log on Android or Windows.

Diving Log for Android – Buddy Signature

Friday, May 13th, 2016

Your buddy can now sign your dives in Diving Log on your Android phone or tablet. Open a dive and scroll down to the bottom to find the new signature field. Tap on the field to sign a dive with your finger or digitizer pen. The signature will sync back to Diving Log on Windows where it can be displayed and printed.

Available on Google Play

In the desktop version you can view the signature either in the buddy popup menu or add it directly to your layout. When you click on the signature, it will open in a new window where you can sign dives also on a Windows PC with your mouse or touch screen. And last but not least you can add and print the signature in the report designer for your physical logbook.

Diving Log for Android – Cloud Sync

Wednesday, May 4th, 2016

Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox sync is available in Diving Log for Android. Just open the app drawer and tap on the first menu item “Synchronization”. Log in to your cloud account and you can sync wireless with your PC (Diving Log 6.0), Mac (Dive Log Manager / Dive Log DT), Android or iOS device.

When using Google Drive, you have to upload from the Android app to the cloud at the first time. This is because the app can only access files which it created. After the first upload from the Android app, you can overwrite the existing file from the PC version and the app can still access the file. For OneDrive and Dropbox it does not matter and you can access files uploaded from other apps directly.

In the desktop version, open the “Web” toolbar menu and click on “Dropbox” (make sure the Dropbox desktop app is installed):

If your desktop logbook is not uploaded to the cloud, make sure the local cloud folder is configured correctly, by clicking the gear icon:

Diving Log for Android

Saturday, April 9th, 2016

I think one of the most requested things during the past few years was an official Diving Log app for Android and today I’m happy to announce: Diving Log for Android is finally here! Today you you can download the app from the Google Play Store:

Available on Google Play

Please let me know what you think and if you find any bugs or problems. The app is using a modern Google Material design and is currently optimized for phones (a tablet UI will come later):

The app is free to open and view logbook files from Diving Log 6.0, editing requires an in-app purchase. This is similar to the Office apps, but without subscription. The app is using the native Diving Log logbook file format (SQLite), please click the link below how to sync with your PC:

You can download a new beta version of Diving Log 5.0 with several new features:

Full Setup (26 MB)
Update from 5.0.0 (19 MB)
(Please download the final version)

In the main toolbar you will find a new “Web” dropdown button, which is now the central location for cloud services like online logbooks. Currently there are 4 online logbooks included:

  • Dilogs.com – already included with the Dilogs manager, but the new sync interface offers a lightweight and easier sync experience
  • Divelogs.de – was only available in the export menu, but now you can upload and download your dives in the new sync dialog
  • Yourdivebook.com – completely new integrated with upload and download
  • Divelogpool.com – new beta portal to collect dive data for the NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) in Trondheim for a research project
  • In future MySQL sync will be added for phpDivingLog

YourDiveBook Sync

Great news for all Android users out there: there is now a sync function from Diving Log 5.0 to the already available Android Dive Log (Dive Log Key) from Rob Knapen. It is included in the sync menu in the main toolbar of Diving Log. The sync is done at the moment only via the sdcard. Diving Log saves the file to the sdcard, Android Dive Log reads this file from the card when you use the restore function. To sync back to the desktop you must create a backup in the Android DL to the storage card, Diving Log will import that and merge the changes into the desktop logbook.

The ribbon in the logbook window could now be displayed also in the Windows 7 ribbon style:
