All lot of things have changed under the hood, especially to enable other file types than images in the detailed data, e.g. PDF and also online images. To add online images and YouTube videos to detailed data, you can click this new link button:

When downloading dives on the desktop, you may want to overwrite any existing data in the dives synced from the mobile app. Up to now, no existing data was overwritten. But now you can force overwrite any data with data from the dive computer by checking this option:

Logbook Table:

If you modify the table layout (e.g. by grouping, removing or reordering the columns), the layout will be now automatically preserved during saves and refreshes. You can also save and load different table layouts manually with the 3 buttons marked in the screenshot above. That way you can have different layouts depending on the task you’re trying to to.

Dive computer skins

You can now load different dive computer skins by right clicking the virtual display. Unfortunately it is not so easy to create different skins in the XAML language, but I’ve created and uploaded a few skins as an example and maybe some users are able to create more skins.

Several Improvements

There is a new field “Supply Type” available in the logbook layout editor, which allows you to switch between OC, CCR etc. for the first tank directly in the logbook without going to the Gas & Tank window.

When you select buddies from the buddy details window by clicking the checkboxes, the order will be now used in the logbook window (instead of sorting alphabetically). The checkboxes will be now preserved in the details window when using the search function (this is for all detail data types).

The map window on Android has now a full featured compass included. You can show it from the menu and tap on it to maximize it to full screen. In full screen you can rotate the outer ring with your finger for advanced navigation.

In the dive profile screen, you can now merge two dive profiles, e.g. when you’ve surfaced during a dive:

You can now scroll certain statistic charts in the Android app, e.g. the Years Chart. Swiping on the chart area scrolls slowly, on the x-axis is fast scrolling. There are also new scrollable chart types, which you may already know from the Windows version:

Updates for Diving Log 6.0 and Android released

I’m happy to announce two updates, one for Diving Log 6.0 on Windows and one for Diving Log on Android:

Diving Log 6.0 Changelog:

Diving Log 6.0 can now download dives from the new Garmin Mk2 via USB, including tank pressure profile data. The tree browser window shows now directly all dives with a certain buddy (without the location sub tree nodes) and has a new “Dive Shop” root tree item.

Diving Log 6.0 is now using the Windows 10 location API for capturing GPS coordinates for a dive site and also includes the navigation panel in the map window, which you may know from the Android app. Of course it requires an external GPS receiver, because most PC’s don’t have GPS build in.

In Diving Log for Android you can now finally search your dives for certain values (numeric or string). You also have now the same tree browser functionality from the PC version.

Diving Log 6.0.17 released

A new update for Diving Log 6.0 is now available with the following new features and improvements:

  • New dive computers (Mares Genius, Suunto D5, Aqualung i550C, i200C, Oceanic Geo 4.0, Veo 4.0, Pro Plus 4)
  • BLE support for Oceanic & Aqualung computers
  • HeinrichsWeikamp OSTC download fixed
  • Depth profile with gas color option
  • Equipment hours/# of dives since last service
  • Scubapro ZDiveLog import fixed for new format
  • Scubase import improved (organisms support)
  • OpenStreetMap display error fixed

The downloader supports now new dive computer models as well as Bluetooth LE support for Oceanic and Aqualung computers. It also solves a download problem which appeared in a recent OSTC firmware update. Many thanks to Jef Driesen from libdivecomputer!

For the depth profile you can now activate an option to draw the profile right in the gas color which was used:

In the Equipment window you can see now the number of dives and the dive time since the last service date:

Please note that there is currently one thing to keep in mind: The current implementation counts all dives since this date, no matter if this piece of equipment was selected in the “Equipment used” list in the logbook window. So if you have pieces of equipment that is not used on every dive, the statistic is not correct right now.

Android Downloader for OSTC and Desktop Update

This week I released a minor update (6.0.16 Update 1) for Diving Log 6.0:

  • New libdivecomputer with bug fixes and download support for these new computers:
    • Mares Genius
    • Suunto D5
    • Aqualung i550C
  • OpenStreetMap fixed in map window
  • Scubapro ZDiveLog import fixed for new format

Diving Log for Android was also updated this week with a rather big thing: the first downloader for HeinrichsWeikamp computers (OSTC) is now available as beta. If you’re using the Android app and have an OSTC computer, please try it out and let me know if it works or not. If there are any problems, activate the “Log Errors” and “Dump File” options in the downloader settings as shown below:

Supported connection types are USB-OTG, Bluetooth and Bluetooth LE (BLE). The downloader is currently beta status, so please let me know via email if there is a problem. Do not use the app store review system to report bugs, thank you!

This update has a lot of the work done to support more computers. But for this I have to port libdivecomputer to Android, which still takes some time. Thank you for your patience!

Diving Log 6.0.13 released

The latest update of Diving Log 6.0 contains the following new features and improvements:

Custom layouts performance improvements:

When creating your own layout files, the file size increased constantly because of some garbage that was saved (AvailableItems list). This has slowed down the performance of the logbook window. Diving Log now clears this garbage automatically when you save a layout file. If you’re using your own logbook layout, I recommend you save the file again to clear up any potential garbage and increase the window loading performance.

Diving Log 6.0.10 released

A new update for Diving Log 6.0 has been released. It brings the following new features and improvements:

  • Galileo G2 support
  • Google satellite map fix
  • LogTrak import improvements
  • Mares Dive Organizer import fix
  • Excel profile data export fixes
  • Surface interval calculation fix

Jef Driesen from libdivecomputer did a great job and added download support for the Scubapro Galileo G2 via USB. Please note, if you want to download the G2 with Diving Log, you have to download an additional zip file and copy the contents to the Diving Log program folder (overwriting the existing files). I cannot deliver this version with the automatic update at the moment, because it breaks the downloader for Atomic Cobalt users.

I’ve also fixed the Google Satellite map view in the dive site map window. The LogTrak import is optimized for the G2 data and the Mares Dive Organizer import updated to the latest format. The Surface interval calculation is fixed for inverted dive list ordering.

Diving Log 2.0 for Android released

One year after the initial release of Diving Log for Android, the latest update has finally reached feature parity with the Windows Phone version. You will find in the latest update the following improvements and new features:

  • Map navigation panel
  • Online dive site search
  • Nitrox, SAC & Unit Calculator
  • Android 7 split screen improvements
  • GPS coordinate capture improvements
  • Bug fixes

The map screen has received some significant improvements. You can now activate a navigation panel, which shows you your current position, speed, altitude and course. When you select a dive site flag you can see also the distance, target course, time to target and the ETA (estimated arrival time). This is useful if you’re on a dive boat and want to check how long it will take to arrive the dive spot:

The navigation panel is mostly useful for nautical navigation on a boat. To navigate to a dive site on land, just select a dive site flag and tap on the Google route button at the bottom. This will open the Google Maps app and calculate a route to the selected dive site:

You can now also search in the divelogs.de database for dive sites which are not stored in your logbook. You can either search by name or around a certain area by tapping into the map. Then you can import any of the dive sites into your own logbook file. And last but not least I’ve added the Nitrox, SAC and unit calculators to the Android app:

Android 7 offers a new split screen function and I’ve improved the compatibility of the Diving Log app for this feature. It should now work just fine in split screen mode on phones and tablets:

Diving Log 6.0 – Statistics

Today I want to show you the new statistics window in Diving Log 6.0. It is using a new chart drawing engine, which has support for mouse, keyboard and touch input methods as well as animations. The “Copy” and “Save” toolbar buttons will now save also the general statistics as text file in addition to the charts as image file. Here you can see some screenshots:
