Change SAC units

Post by babydiver »

I have a Shearwater Peregrine TX. The Shearwater Cloud software calculates SAC in PSI/min. For consistency, is there any way to have Diving Log show SAC in those units?

Yes, File > Preferences > Units > Pressure (PSI)

That does change the pressure to PSI, but SAC is still in ft³/min. I want it in PSI/min. Any other suggestions?

Please excuse my ignorance. Would it be more accurate to state that the volume per unit time reported in Diving Log is the RMV (respiratory minute volume), and not the SAC, as per the reference below?

"In the diving community the terms Surface Air Consumption (SAC) rate and Respiratory Minute Volume (RMV) rate, are often used interchangeably. Even though the difference is that SAC is expressed as PSI per minute (imperial) or BAR per minute (Metric). While RMV is expressed as a volume (cubic feet per minute or liters per minute)."

Hi

Yes, you're right. SAC and RMV are sometimes used and exchanged and I'm using the term "SAC" as it is more common, even though it is technically RMV. Unfortunately there is currently no way to show PSI per minute. I'll add this to my to-do list. Thank you for your feedback!

Sven,
I agree, I think this would be a great addition for consistency. I've been wondering the same thing regarding the RMV being changed to PSI. Will this be put in place in the future? Thanks.

Adding another vote for SAC in same units as Shearwater for consistency.
My wife is a bit competitive and always compares...
I have ditched Shearwater Cloud after yet another data loss fiasco bug in the SWC world.
They have now said they will no longer fix bugs in the SWC iOS app, evens ones that cause data loss.
AND the new Dive Shearwater App is soooo bad I can't imagine the approvals that allowed it to be designed, let alone released.
You have done a great job SVEN. I have been using DL as the "golden" copy for all of my dives and am using Dive Log for iOS as the front end - the full DL ecosystem. Hoping for the best.
