Changes from Beta to Final

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

The final version 5.0.3 will be released shortly and I want to show you the few things which have been added since beta 5. It’s mostly polishing, some minor bug fixes and the German localization (other languages will follow during the next weeks). I’ve updated the Suunto Dive Manager (SDM 4.0 not yet supported!), Oceanlog, Mares Iris/Drak and UDCF import and there is a new import from the Atomic Cobalt logbook software. You can also display now in CCR dives the ppO2 chart from all three O2 sensors (if supported by the O2 monitor):

Display up to three ppO2 Sensor values

Blue is sensor 1, green is sensor 2 and cyan is sensor 3. The yellow line is the setpoint. The dive site dialog has now a 2nd page with some more data:

As usual, please provide feedback if you see any problems or bugs. Please note, the SAC rate calculation is still not correct for multiple and/or double tanks in this beta, which is a known issue.

Trip and Shop Management

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

You can now manage your trips and holidays in Diving Log. Trips are a great way to group and organize dives and buddies in your logbook:

Trip Management

Add people who have participated in this trip

Add a group picture of this trip

You can select the trip and dive center for each dive and group that way dives in a logical way. Dives for each trip can then be viewed in the tree browser:

Select trip and dive center in the extended layout

View dives of each trip in the tree browser

You can enter now also addresses of dive shops, dive centers, dive schools, etc. in the new shop management dialog. It is very similar to the buddy management dialog, but is for contact information from organizations and the like:

Shops and Dive Centers

These features will be available in the next beta in a few days.

GPS and new coordinate panel

Friday, September 10th, 2010

In my last post I’ve showed you the GPS Tool for Windows Mobile. Today I’ve released a new beta version of Diving Log 5.0 which adds GPS support and a new coordinate panel to the dive site window:

Full Setup (26 MB)
Update from 5.0.0 (19 MB)
Update from previous beta (2.4 MB)

When you click the new “GPS” button in the toolbar, Diving Log will retrieve the current GPS position when a GPS device is connected. If you have a Windows Mobile phone with GPS you can use the phone as GPS device for your PC (click here for instructions).

In this version you can switch also between several coordinate formats for latitude and longitude and view dive sites easily in Google Maps, Google Earth and Bing Maps. Please let me know how these new features work for you.

Latest updates

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

So here is the latest news about the past 3 weeks: I’ve finished the 4 other detailed data windows (Country, City/Island, Place and Buddy) – you can see the screenshots below. I also successfully converted the Uwatec DataTrak and SmartTrak imports to .NET.

And I created 2 new importers due to user requests, one for the “Reef Log” program (www.reef-log.com, successor of the Padi GoDive application) and one for the new Seiko “DiveLogBook” application, the successor of the “PC LogBook” program, currently used by Tusa and Zeagle. I’ll include them soon in a Diving Log 4.0 update, please contact me if you need one of the 2 new importers before that update.

Next I convert the Suunto Dive Manager and Oceanlog imports to the .NET platform.
